Essential Health Benefit (EHB) requirements provided under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) shows that the EHBs frequently targeted for cuts in the current proposed Congressional and Senate bills account for small percentages of overall monthly premiums, on average.
Analysis of the bills from multiple sources indicate the following:
- maternity and newborn care account for six percent of premium dollars
- habilitative and rehabilitative care, or daily living and functioning services account for two percent and
- pediatric dental and vision care account for one percent
It appears as if the Republican proposed cuts will cause more abrasion among female health care consumers and the elderly than save actual dollars.
